Our Values
The Bible tells us, “Religion God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” —James 1:27
Tukutana’s staff and volunteers heed this calling by working with East African churches, local leaders, and individuals to meet the physical and spiritual needs of orphans, widows, and the most vulnerable in their communities.
The Lord looks down from heaven and sees the whole human race. From his throne, he observes all who live on the earth. He made their hearts, so he understands everything they do. We put our hope in the Lord. He is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. Let your unfailing love surround us, Lord, for our hope is in you alone.
—Psalm 33:13-22
Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. …Hate what is wrong. …Hold tightly to what is good. Love each other with genuine affection. …God’s people are in need; be ready to help them. …Always be eager to practice hospitality. …Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep. …Don’t be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. …And, don’t think you know it all!
—Romans 12:9-16
Blessed are those who have regard for the weak; the Lord delivers them in times of trouble.
—Psalm 41:1
