WIDOWS’ MINISTRY

Four years ago, as Tukutana drilled a well in western Uganda, our program director, "Uncle Sunday," voiced concern for 30 widows experiencing unspeakable hardships and suffering.

In response, Tukutana launched a widows' ministry which is helping to meet these and dozens more ladies' profound needs. A widows’ ministry now exists in most villages and refugee settlements where Tukutana provides water solutions.

The women vary in age and circumstance, but all share a deep desire to be remembered, valued, and loved. Tukutana cares for our widows through monthly gatherings in which we provide hearty meals, seeds for growing crops, fellowship, Discovery Bible Studies, art, and fun! (Our widows like to dance)!

“I like to laugh. After my husband died, life became too hard and I no longer found reasons to laugh. Now that I’m part of Tukutana, I have many friends, widows like me. We laugh and support one another. Together, we also study the Bible which has revealed the depth of God’s love for us and the hope we have in Him.”
